1/3/12, up in Red Feathers for some ice fishing me and my father decided to grab the snowshoes and try for this summit. Pulling into the Lady Moon TH we were met with a husband and wife desperately trying to get their PT Cruiser out of the snow drifts. They'd made a lot of progress and were nearly back on pavement, but being tired they were glad to have our help. We took that as a sign to park across the street at the Mount Margaret TH. Walking through Lady Moon Meadow we reached the trail junction and headed along some tracks to a good jumping-off point and hit the snowy summit. No register, or at least one poking out of the snow drifts.
There is an inaccuracy on the Nat Geo map of the area. From my LOJ TR:
The Trails Illustrated map for the area shows the trails near 8722, but the routes shown are out dated. The TI map shows the Granite Ridge trail veering off to just south of 8722 (which it may still do, but there was no marked intersection where we would have expected) but instead starts to ascend towards the saddle of 8722 and the smaller hill next to the two small ponds. While this caused confusion at first, it actually put us in a great spot to leave the trail without snow drifts.
Due to its proximity to Lady Moon Lake and Lady Moon Meadow, I thought the eponymous nickname 'Lady Moon Mountain' would be fitting.
