Short climb of point 8820 before fishing up in Red Feathers for the day. I was dropped at the national forest sign pullout just west of the Mount Margaret/ Lady Moon trailheads, and the designated meeting point was West Lake parking lot for some fishing afterwards. I followed the small road leading out of the pullout, crossed the gate and made my way through slash piles before dropping into the meadow. For some reason I wasn't expecting the meadow to be so soggy despite the precipitous weather over the last weeks, and had to 'ford' across the marsh. Heading up the hillside I intersected a very well worn(yet unmarked) trail that I'd follow a ways before bushwhacking thr rest of the way to the summit.
Exploring the summit area I hit the two tallest points, determined the western one was the true summit and milled around in the mid morning sun. Good views in all directions, no register or cairn. I took a different descent route in order to shortcut some of the road walking I was destined to do. Dropping down through the intermittent tree/rock/aspen patches I rerouted on the trail I'd intersected earlier and followed it west a ways, cut through a saddle between an outcropping and hit the large meadow that reaches from Parvin Lake. Though on the maps the area is national forest, but it sure didn't seem like it. I crossed a big fence and hung to the edge of the meadow taking cover in the trees. Eventually I cut across the meadow, jumped the creek(this time there were stepping stones) and walked to the road. I never saw signage against trespassing, but it didn't quite feel right during that stretch and I wasn't interested in encounters. Walking along the road I passed the Parvin Lake DOW outpost and read the plaque before cutting through the West Lake Campground and to the lake itself.
